Colossians 3:12-14 NKJV

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection."

“Friendship”

March 9, 2013 - Author: Bernadette Saddik

You sneak a smile.
I laugh.
You cracked a joke again.
I needed that, you sensed.
But I guess that’s what friendship is.
When you…

Show them that you care.
Show them that you’re there.
Listen to their fears.
Wipe away their tears.
Facilitate a hope.
Give them some sunlight.

Hug them tight and near.
Hold them near and dear.

For you never know that one day
You find them, huddled in a corner.
And the only thing that keeps them going
Are the times when you…

Cook them a meal.
Help clean up the house.
Comfort when they hurt.
Stay up late for hours on the phone.
Reel them to reality;
Yes, it’s harsh, but you are not alone.

Now promise them with sincerity,
“You matter.”
Provide them with generosity
Your time.
Shower them with affirmation.
Open their eyes to God’s salvation.

Show them that you care.
Show them that you’re there.
Listen to their fears.
Wipe away their tears.
Facilitate a hope.
Give them some sunlight…

In the dark and dreary caves,
In those desperate times of life.

For you never know that one day
You find them, huddled in a corner.
And the only thing thing that keeps them going
Are the times when they…

Long for a friend,
And you, my friend, are that gift
In my broken curled up mess,
You come to me and bless.
May you comprehend this love from Christ,
To know the joy you bring me
When you…

Show me that you care.
Show me that you’re there.
Listen to my fears.
Wipe away my tears.
Facilitate a hope.
Give me some sunlight.
In my broken curled up mess.
You come to me and bless.

And that is friendship.
And that is love.

God inspired this piece through my amazing sister. I hear the music to this song in my head. Can’t wait to get back to my bass guitar to play/write it…Thanks ‘sis’

  1. as you probably know i love poetry and read many poems, both classic and contemporary – your “song of friendship” can stand shoulder to shoulder among the best – I can also hear the music but this poem/song is music itself: it has an incredible balance, great rhythm, strong images, beautiful language and most important of all, feelings….When you’ll get back to your bass guitar and do your “magic” would you please send us a tape ?
