Colossians 3:12-14 NIV

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

Living Words | Proclaiming Christ

Author: Bernadette Saddik

The ever-presence of God’s Love in His Gift of Praise

If a picture is worth a thousand words
Then avert your two eyes from me when you demand silence
For countless words erupt with each shuddering gasp

Ergo miss the accompanying timbrel and dance.

If a picture is worth a thousand words
Then aim your soul’s eye beyond now when you demand answers
For countless strains roar from Saviour’s bleeding Gift

Elseways miss the revelatory mighty acts and Breath.

I see so much
I hear too much
I say enough…

Lord above all I pray
let me live these, the loudest Word amidst
the dying cacophony of the world and
the swelling harmonies of the angels…

Christ is risen.

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”
Psalm 150:6 KJV

All Will Be Right | Moonlit Tree Surrender

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Surrender,
Dear shouting one,
Cry tonight.
See then colours bright.

Surrender,
Dear struggling one,
Rest tonight.
Sleep in love-filled light.

Surrender,
Dear silent one,
Sing tonight.
All will be well.

All will be right.

“I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and He gave ear unto me…I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search…Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?” Psalm 77:1, 6, 13 KJV

Look Again | Bright Hibiscus

Author: Bernadette Saddik

In “Many Joyful Days”

Look again.
Does the pink catch your eye?
See dried golden leaves passing by.

Look again.
Does the glare hurt your view?
See silhouettes in the shadow.

Look again.
Do you see how beauty grows?
How in each wound and perfection,
Saviour’s beauty shows!

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:77-79 KJV

Through Oceans, Lands, and Skies | Find Me, Lord Jesus

Author: Bernadette Saddik

When lost in “The Closet of the Mind”

When lost in imploding raw rifts,
streaking across a sky of
“It’s too much”…

When lost in weary dark bridges,
straining land-sea clashes with
“I’m so tired”…

When lost in spinning gray wisps,
churning through the fronds ’round
“I don’t know”…

Find me, Lord Jesus.
Let me rest in Your arms,
refreshed by Your strength.

“Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech Thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and He helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.” Psalm 116:4-7 KJV

More Than Dandelions | God’s Beloved Creation

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Remember “Today”:

A bright cluster of flowers —
dandelions…
oh unruly crown of weeds,
Are beautiful, wouldn’t you say?

And you, who are not a weed —
are more cherished…
Beloved Love’s Creation,
Shining vessel with God’s light.

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 KJV

Green in the Broken Places | God’s Love Everywhere

Author: Bernadette Saddik

God’s love shows us “A Beautiful Place”:

Staring at the vast colors of the ocean in my
dreams,
Frustrated by a bleak gray
reality.
Green shoots grow and rise in
broken places,
Proclaiming God’s nourishing presence
everywhere, anywhere, here and now.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…” Luke 4:18 KJV

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18 KJV

Sunset | Christ’s Merciful Blessings

Author: Bernadette Saddik

In awe after “A Request for a Blessing“…

Trees stoop down to witness —
from the edge of the horizon —
God’s art in sunset motion.

I kneel down to witness —
from all the corners of my life —
God’s mercy before my eyes.

“But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7 KJV

Hope in Christ | Christmas Always Present in Love

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Rejoice in our Shepherd‘s birth!

Frosted wave caps from
Tears of joy at Christ’s birth, and
Tears of sorrow for our pain.
Tubes of water
Smiling, because
Hope, and Love, He doth bring!

Merry Christmas! May you experience, every day, Christmas and the hope it represents.

God bless

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8a KJV

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 KJV

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:9-11 KJV

When Weakness Falls upon Us | Strength in God’s Grace

Author: Bernadette Saddik

In Christ Jesus, you are “Capable“…

When the dark clouds roll in,
and the shadows fall,
be still my soul.

When the lions snap,
and the chains weigh heavy,
be still my soul.

For by God’s grace,
you never know how strong you are
until being weak is the only choice you have.

“And what more shall I say?
I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets,
who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised;
who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword;
whose weakness was turned to strength;
and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.” Hebrews 11:32-34 NIV

Flower Petal Canvas | The Gift of God’s Blessings

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Remember, even “In the Valley…”

Each one of us uniquely painted by our Creator’s hands,
Our lives are a beautiful canvas.

Our sufferings painted in bright colors launched by chaos,
Caught by the Prince of Peace, He wields them mercifully.

Each streak of pink our Saviour’s blood, each streak of white our cleansing,
Each streak of gold, His crown–His inheritance is our blessing.

Bloom boldly, see the little things, the blessings in every day.
Life is a gift, no matter what, for it is richly filled.

Though some paint tears fall in tragedy, look to our end, a new beginning:
Love surrounds, endless joy, hopes fulfilled, fears and confusions banished.
By far more beautiful!

“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He Who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 NIV

“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Luke 12:27-28 KJV

Always much love to you, Nona

Open Shell | Christ’s Light, His Presence

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Lord, where is my rest?

My soul, an open shell
face-down on a smudge-streaked beach.
Who will lift me up again
that the light, I may see?
Behold, Christ gently picks up
all the broken pieces.
He makes them beautiful,
art in His warm presence.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV

Starfish | Appreciating the little things in life

Author: Bernadette Saddik

God’s answer when I cry out, “Lord, my heart hurts,”

Stop to see the starfish,
In all the nooks and crannies
Stop to see the little things.
Stop to see the starfish,
In every step of life
Stop to see the glories that God brings.

“May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in His works—He who looks at the earth, and it trembles, Who touches the mountains, and they smoke. I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” Psalm 104:31-33 NIV

For Christ died on His way to victory-
He rose to strengthen you and me.
Aimlessness is only becoming of defeat,
Boldness, brightness–with these true life we greet

Sunflowers | Music of God’s Glory

Author: Bernadette Saddik

May your day be brighter, if not better

Velvety center, warming, soothing-
Bright yellow petals hugging you.
Each flower, one by one,
Composing the music of God’s glory.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” Romans 8:18-19 NIV

Bird | God’s Wondrous Refuge

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Lord, You see me,

When I sit, perched on the edge
Taking a break from flight,
You lift me on Your wings
And show me the wonders of Your sight.

“How abundant are the good things that You have stored up for those who fear You, that You bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in You.” Psalm 31:19 NIV

In “Friendship,”

Carry a bouquet of flowers:
Peace, patience, kindness, joy.
Carry the blossoms of the Spirit:
Courtesy of our Friend, our Lord.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

Tree | Looking to God’s Grace

Author: Bernadette Saddik

Remember “To make a joyful noise,”

Reaching high,
Arms stretched out in praise.
Standing tall,
Leaning on God’s grace!

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3 KJV

Clouds | God’s Glory Proclaimed

Author: Bernadette Saddik

To my Shepherd, my Saviour, my Comforter:

My head above the clouds,
What do I see?
My head above the clouds,
My Saviour’s love for me!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4 NIV

See the magnificence of the waves.
See them crowned with white and blue.
For you and me, this is our destiny.
For our Saviour has brought us life anew!
